Hailing from near the devil’s wilderness, across the blue yonder, I was called out of obscurity to be a disciple of Jesus, a husband, a dad of 3 girls and a pastor on a ‘ministry sabbatical’ who is currently living in Calgary. I’m a lover of cultures, food, the occasional cold brew, a bookworm, an avid sports fan, and I’m slowly learning the banjo!

My name is Dave. This is my blog. It’s a place for my musings on culture, food, books, theology and what it means to plod along in ministry for God’s glory.

The name of the blog ‘A Modern Exile’ comes from the following:

Though I don’t like labels, I would probably say that I am theologically reformed, baptistic in practice, evangelical, a restrained charismatic and can be somewhat contemplative.
